In-Game Definitions

  • Empyrean Cells: A kind of cell originating from Seodore Riddle. It exists within living beings, yet has its own instincts and possesses characteristics of a single-celled organism. Empyrean cells are parasitic to their host, erodes other cells, proliferates itself, and has a cancer-like structure. These cells spread within the host to try and create their next "body." This action is referred to as proliferative behavior.
  • Telosnium (temporary element symbol Tel): Telosnium is difficult to handle and is typically toxic to living organisms. This element makes up the majority of the Empyrean Cells, playing roles like proliferation, manipulation, and will reading. Generally regarded as the cause of Empyrean cell behaviors.
  • Arkenium (temporary element symbol Ark): Arkenium recieves the will as read by Telosnium and manifests its host's will as a genuine phenomena.
Telosnium is likened to black light and Arkenium to white light, and the presence of Arkenium maintains balance within the cells. If there is an imbalance, with more Telosnium being present, cell erosion may occur.
  • Empyrean Heaven Research Institute: A group that believes one can become closer to "God's love" through the Empyrean cells. The members are separated between believers and researchers, with the cult aspect being referred to as Path to Empireo. E.H.R.I. contains three buildings: the laboratory, the main building, and the Chuubu branch research building. The primary purpose of E.H.R.I. is to control the cells for use in experiments to succeed the previous Origins.
  • Empyrean Lifeforms: Any organism that has received Empyrean cells. They may take one of 4 forms, dependent on the will of the reciepient.
    • Monsters
      • Centipede (feet): Embodies the desire to escape. Its escape instinct is stronger than its propagation instinct, so it doesn't chase it, but if one touches it, they will take damage. It's similar in visuals to a centipede.
      • Back: Embodies the defensive instincts of its host. It typically doesn't move and remains in a corner, but the player takes damage if touched.
      • Head (brain): Embodies the thoughts of its host. It has a strong proliferative instinct, but cannot follow if the player leaves a certain threshold.
      • Circle: Embodies the sense of fellowship. A countless amount of arms are wrapped around it like rings, and it has a strong proliferation instinct. Regardless of if the player flees to another room or gets farther away, it will continue to pursue. Researchers with a rank of B or higher must use guns against this kind when encountered.
    • Dolls: An organism that isn't as dangerous or disturbing as a creature, though it lacks the ability to think. The term "doll" refers to a person whose cell erosion rate increases when touched, which may lead to monsterization further down the line.
    • Hosts: A human that successfully received cells directly from an Origin, or adapted to them during the infection stage. They're regarded highly within the Institute and have powers that surpass that of other Empyrean lifeforms.
  • Origin: Refers to a successor with the powers to become one themself. Hajime Hatsutori is regarded as one, as well as Origins α and β. Origins have the ability to transfer their cells to others, though the success rate is unknown and commonly fails if one has "unstable cells." Unstable cells lead to further cell erosion and monsterization.

Trivia

  • Fukao originally rejected translation proposals from overseas, but approved an unofficial Korean translation. The reason for rejection initially was the amount of text to be translated, as well as other things, but the Korean version was approved due to the production team presenting the games they had previously worked on as well as a detailed schedule.
