Celestial Forge is a practice for writing fanfic commonly associated with the Worm fanfic community. [1] The basic rule is that for every set amount of words added to the story (typically 1000 or 2000 words), the protagonist gains a new power, ability, or tool.

Development

"Celestial Forge" originated in the JumpChain community, as a document (or set of documents) listing "the best crafting items, perks, etc." to give JumpChain protagonists are they progress through different worlds. [2] Some authors began using the list as a resource to come up with powers for non-jumping stories, such as Worm alt-power AUs, in which the protagonist gained more powers over time.[2] [3] Eventually, a standardized format developed in which the protagonist gained a new power after a set number of words had been published in the story.
