STORY: [SPOILER FOLLOWS] Doyle was killed in a bomb blast which left his partner and lover Bodie damaged, unable to work, and mourning him. Depressed, Bodie loses himself in dreams and memories of action they had together and times they made love. Then he sees Alan Cade on television, and resolves to meet him in order to rediscover himself.
I liked this a lot: plenty of angst, but of the right sort and for the right reasons. I like the idea of Cade as Bodie's saviour, one way or another, and I like the theme of recovery from loss and grief. Besides, this story really captured it for me -- that dark feeling of depression in which nothing matters. [1]
