Reactions and Reviews
1989
What would be Spock's reaction if Kirk would ever be unfaithful to him? We certainly find out in this story. I liked the way Spock's character was portrayed. At first, he is just plain angry - afraid that his deep Vulcan instincts may cause him to punish Kirk for his infidelity. But after awhile, he realizes that he has no life without his human beside him. It was a little hard to believe that Kirk would allow himself to be seduced by another man, even with the help of the drugs, but their reactions - Kirk's apology, sorrow and repentance and Spock's outrage and finally forgiveness - were right on target. 1993
My favorite OOB stories are Marie's "The Hustler" and Madelein's "Carnival's End". ... I always liked "Carnival's End", but I didn't know how much until I sat down and reread the OOBs this summer. I guess I'm looking for different things in stories now, because this time the story blew me away. Her Kirk and Spock were not these mythic characters struggling against external pressures or making supreme sacrifices all over the place. Her Kirk and Spock were flawed individuals fighting the same stupid, thoughtless impulses that screw up real relationships. [2]
