Camelot is a short-lived 2011 historical fantasy television series based on the legend of King Arthur. The only season of the show follows a newly installed King Arthur as he attempts to build a Britain where all people can live in peace. The primary antagonist of the show is Arthur's half-sister Morgan who surreptitiously undermines the new king, believing the throne to be her birthright.
Despite popular subject material, the Camelot fandom never really took off. It is theorised that the commencement of Game of Thrones on rival network HBO a few months after Camelot premiered drew many swords-and-sorcery fans to join its already solid following, leaving the fandom sparsely populated.
Due to the small quantity of fic available, it is difficult to say definitively what the most popular ships of the Camelot fandom are.
The most common slash pairings since the first episode are Arthur/Kay and Arthur/Merlin. The Gawain/Kay ship emerged following the episode ‘Guinevere’ and a lot of stories with this ship revolve around the reading lessons that would have eventuated from the events in the episode.
The most common het ship is Morgan/Merlin.
