CLexslash was one of the more vibrant mailing lists of Smallville fandom, focusing on the Clark/Lex slash pairing.
The first fic posted there was "Clueless" by Hegerbabe. Challenges were hosted, and questions regarding canon were welcome. Also notable is the ep trade that occurred early on in the series.
