C19 is a forum hosted by ProBoards. Founded in February 2005 by CC, it initially focused on discussion of the 2004 BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's industrial novel, North and South, starring Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe. It has since branched into other costume dramas, as well as other roles for Armitage.
As of June 2013, the forum has around 5800 members and nearly 1.5 million posts. Registration is required and access to the forum is members only. In addition to discussion, fanfiction is hosted in several writers' sub-boards. Fiction is required to be suitable for children, and is often edited to remove non-PG rated material (which is often available by PM from the author).
Fandoms
The main fandoms for fanworks are North and South, Jane Eyre, The Hobbit, Robin Hood (BBC 2006) and Spooks. There are also discussion boards for Shakespeare, Jane Austen and a wide range of Victorian authors.
Staff
The forum was founded by CC, with millhand, polly and Thomasine acting as moderators. In December 2011, millhand and janeite took over as administrators, with theeyeshaveit and grendel as moderators.
Review
I'm happy to have found kindred souls (who are also obsessed with N&S) at the Internet forum that was set up after the BBC's message board crashed in 2004 when Thornton first appeared on screen. C19 has the best collection of N&S fan fiction and endless discussions on N&S with some very intelligent and witty ladies. I love it there! (Trudy Brasure)[1]
