Reactions and Reviews

"Buster" by Gigi Pinckney is 62 pages long and one of two stories in this zine. I have no clue if Gigi is the old author or the newbie as neither name means anything to me. [1] This is a story that could be with any two men as there's nothing much sci-fi about it. You could take out all the sci-fi details and make it a story about a man who has met someone out to sea for months on end on a scientific sea vessel and have it be the same story. It's basically a love story about two men who meet and have sex and fall in love immediately. There is a lot of sex, and there is also a plot of sorts which involves dogs, Spock's mother, Kirk's mother, and the members of Spock's ship which includes Scotty and McCoy. Spock is a scientist on a scientific exploration space vessel, and Kirk is a businessman on earth. The name comes from the dog who introduced Spock and Kirk together in a park. The story is okay, in my opinion, but not wonderful. I'm just not thrilled by any story which has a lot of Amanda and Kirk's mother in it. Nor am I a dog person. So basically this is a story I wouldn't like no matter who the author was. [2]
