I can't accept that when Kirk catches Spock tampering with his mind, Spock won't own up to it, conceals his earlier tampering and then distracts Kirk from the problem with sex. This is so cowardly. I realize that this story is meant to be an explanation of why Spock fled to Gol. It is indeed difficult to explain a Gol separation in the context of an established K/S relationship. Yet Spock's behavior in this story causes me to lose all respect and sympathy for him. In "Menagerie," Spock admits to what he has done, takes responsibility for his actions and is willing to take the consequences. I also didn't see Spock trying to weasel out of the consequences when he thought he'd killed Kirk in "Amok Time". So I feel that Spock's failure to be honest and face up to Kirk's judgement, is not only contemptible, but out of character.

'Blue Symmetry' by Sue Denim deals with the presence of a Vulcan woman on board as well as the aftermath of Janice Lester, both of which put a nearly impossible strain on the bond... Marilyn‘s illustration for 'Blue Symmetry' is sensuous and beautiful.
