BloodBond is a het 80-page Beauty and the Beast novel by Rhonda Collins.
Author's Preface
This story began as a bad joke and was originally never intended for publication. I suppose I was frustrated with the many fans who refused to see the show as one entity and insisted that Catherine hadn’t died. Poor Cathy has been brought back in so many ways already–all of them rather improbable, considering everything we were shown on screen, and the scenarios have been used over and over. So, I figured, why not push the envelope and bring her back in a really different way? I suppose this way is no more or less believable than any of the others, considering that Catherine and the story were fiction anyway, and in fiction you allow for the reader/viewer’s “willing suspension of disbelief.” It’s fantasy, right? Cathy Chandler is dead, and the dead don’t rise...and vampire’s don’t really exist.
Or do they?
I suppose this story should also come with a apology...but what the heck. Anyone who sees Catherine as Saint Catherine and believes she walks on water...well...don’t read this. I make no apologies and no promises. The story is the story. This is what the characters told me to say, and I wrote the story as it was “told” to me.
BLOODBOND is cheerfully dedicated to all the fans who were tired of seeing Cathy come back from the dead.
Reactions and Reviews
Catherine's not dead--she's a vampire! And after initial indignation, she likes it! After all, there are compensations--namely eternal youth and beauty...but mostly Snow, who's a vampire too. In fact, it was his blood that was used to transform her...by Gabriel, who has a dastardly plot to control all the benefits of vampirism with none of the drawbacks, through experimentation with a special element in Catherine's blood...and perhaps in Jacob's. Catherine's reappearance does tend to put a damper on the hitherto blossoming romance between V/D. And Snow, who is also a vampire, is found to have some oddly redeeming features.[1]
This 4th Season novel takes off from the premise that Gabriel and Snow are both vampires...and they’ve made Catherine one, too. As dismayed Vincent and Diana attempt to come to terms with the situation, Snow initiates Catherine into her new existence. Catherine’s transformation was in furtherance a scheme of Gabriel’s to dominate the world through manipulation of baby Jacob’s unique blood. Vincent and Diana are torn by the conflicting possibilities which develop, but all are united in their opposition to Gabriel. This briskly paced, well written, highly original novel will entertain those who find its central premise intriguing.[2]
