Fandom

Bastille has a considerable fanbase, with the fans going by the fandom nickname "Stormers" (a reference to the storming of the Bastille). The fandom's presence is spread across multiple platforms, from Tumblr to Twitter to Instagram. There are currently just over 500 works for the band posted on Archive of Our Own.

A considerable portion of the fic written for this fandom consists of reader-insert works. The reader is most often, but not exclusively, shipped with Dan.

On the slashier side of things, the most popular slash ship in the fandom is Kyle Simmons/Dan Smith, or "Dyle". As of March 2021, the ship has over 250 works on AO3, making up a majority of the total fics for the band on that site.

Several of their songs get used in fanvids. Their song 'Pompeii' has been, and continues to be, used extensively, in a wide range of fandoms.

They are sometimes described as giving off an immortal-fantasy vibe, albeit one surrounding an urban environment as opposed to the woodland fae vibe often associated with the likes of Hozier and Florence + The Machine.
