Baseball RPF is a real-person fiction fandom focusing on professional baseball players, particularly Major League Baseball (MLB) players.
Fandom
The fandom has seen steady increase in mainstream popularity since circa 2010 (?). The San Francisco Giants, who won the World Series in 2010, 2021, and 2014, are one of the most popular RPF teams, and common pairings include Lincecum/Posey and Lincecum/Zito. Other popular RPF teams include the Oakland A's and New York Yankees. The majority of fanworks are slash, but gen and het (typically featuring players' real-life wives) are also common.
Though the focus of the fandom is on the athletes themselves, other individuals related to the MLB franchises also appear in fanworks. For example, It's the Walks That'll Kill Ya is Mets Broadcaster RPF written for Yuletide 2012.
