Barry and Oliver meet in Starling City, when Barry is investigating an unusual robbery. Oliver is initially jealous of Barry's friendship with Felicity and he remains sceptical even after Barry saves his life. The two part on good terms with Oliver trusting Barry to keep his secret identity a secret.
When he becomes The Flash, Barry seeks out the Starling City vigilante for his advice. Oliver believes Barry can be a noble hero, and encourages him to find his own way of protecting his city. The two continue to work together when necessary and remain friends.
