Bad Bad Rubber Piggy (abbreviated "BBRP") is an Invader Zim fan website created in November of 2003 by a user named invader gua. As of Jan 2022 it is still maintained, however the last news post by the admin was on July 21, 2006. It hosted screenshots, audio, and links to interviews for Invader Zim, as well as hosting a forum. The forum also hosted fanfiction. Bad Bad Rubber Piggy was a part of the StarFusion IRC network.

I also remember the Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy site, which used to be the best source for Invader ZIM screen caps. It seemed like every other frame of the show was chronicled on that website.

History

Bad Bad Rubber Piggy's first Wayback Machine capture is from Dec 2003, but it's earliest news posts are from Nov 2003. Despite this a news post from Dec 31, 2004, stated that Jan 2, 2005 would be the one year anniversary of the site, implying it was made in Jan 2004. This post may have been referring to it's forum rather than the site as a whole, considering news posts go back to 2003 and the forums were opened in Jan 2004. BBRP remained active until about July 2006, when the admin stopped posting or updating the website.

While hosted by invader gua, there were other moderators that shared access to parts of the site, as evident in an early post by invader gua and later posts by other users. One such user was called GrandPa_G, whose earliest posts are from late 2003 along side invader gua. GrandPa_G may not have been a single person, but an admin account used by multiple people, as news posts late in the website's life by GrandPa_G are tagged with other usernames directly in the posts content.[2]

there are a few people who have offered to help out with content, and it's appreciated. invader knarf will be heading up a "how to draw invader zim characters" section. invader snalf will be heading up the audio department. and invader karb doesn't really know what he'll be doing, but really wants to help. bookmark the site and come back often to see what's new!

The Bad Bad Rubber Piggy's first forums were opened on Jan 7, 2004, called bbrp babble (or just "The Babble"), however the Wayback Machine did not capture anything from the forums, leaving it lost to time.[4] It is unclear what happened to the first forums that caused them to be re-created. The second forums were launched not long after on Jun 28, 2004[5] and were luckily captured. The BBRP forums held topics for Invader Zim along with forum election boards and places to advertise other Invader Zim websites.[6]

Sometime between Dec 2004 and Jan 22, 2005 BBRP was taken down by a "nasty worm" according to admin GrandPa_G, but it is unclear for how long. It was back up and running by Jan 22, 2005.[7]

invader invidlord appeared to host the "Comments of Doom" section of the website beginning in 2005, which was similar to the news section, except that it appeared to be used as a place for invader invidlord to post roleplay-like snippits. invader invidlord's comments were written by someone who called themself Chris. Chris stopped making new posts under Comments of Doom shortly after they began, with the last post being on May 31, 2005.

(...okay okay okay, this is chris once again, the voice of reason in invader invidlord's head... kinda... in any case, today he had some kind of rant about batteries, and he talks about wire hangers for like 5 paragraphs, and then briefly remembers to mention that the house is still haunted by the swirling vortex of ectoplasm in the linen closet, but that's besides the point. i have just witnessed something horrific that needs to be analyzed. a simple television commercial. for kool-aid. in it, the being known only as the kool-aid man is skateboarding, but he has an accident and falls, resulting in the most horrifying sight i have ever witnessed... a dead kool-aid man. dead!! all liquid spills from the kool-aid man's pitcher head. he is lying on the ground lifeless. and dead. then, children mix new kool-aid within his cavernous glass shell and revive him as a terrible sugar-free zombie kool-aid man. i'm not sure if this counts as the most brilliant commercial ever, or the most scarring, all i know is that kool-aid man is now dead to me... also, i know that sugar-free products are an essential ingrediant in developing zombies, and as such, are evil... -chris)

By the end of 2005, The Babble forums appear to go into member-only mode for the majority of its boards, whereas before all boards were available for guests to view.[9] Captures of The Babble stop after Feb 2006, but the forums appeared to be active up until the end of the captures.

Mid 2006 BBRP was still making new news posts, with admin GrandPa_G saying on Jul 12, 2006 that "the Bad Bad Rubber Piggy Babble is still very active." After this posts become sparse, with no new contests or events occurring in 2006, up until the final news post is made on Jul 21, 2006, by admin weeniedemon encouraging members to check out Jhonen Vasquez's other work and reminding users not to spam The Babble. This seems to be where BBRP's activity drops off, though The Babble may have remained active for a while afterwards no captures of it exist past Nov 2005 to show its activity.

BBRP hosted several forum games and events, from forum elections to talent shows. Events were advertised on the main page's news section. A month-long talent show was held in June 2005, including categories for poetry, animation, and music, among others. The news post stated there would be a "special mystery prize" for the winner, and a subforum was made on The Babble. However, the subforum, which was located under the "Archive" section of the forum, did not receive any Wayback Machine captures.[10] The winner was not announced on BBRP's main page, leaving no trace of who won the mystery prize or what it was.

BBRP also held "Halloween Town," a themed Halloween event on the forums that hosted contests, including consume contests.
