Some Excerpts

I've always loved to draw, but started doing it more regularly in high school, and later studied for a while at a preparatory art school. In the end I didn't have the confidence to try to pursue illustration professionally, and then I kind of lost my motivation for drawing too. So I'm really happy I eventually found my way into fandom; the creative atmosphere here is inspiring and has helped me grow as an artist and rekindle my love for drawing. I probably enjoy doing backgrounds and settings the most. I love illustrating stories, envisioning the world that an author created and translating my version into a drawing. I like being allowed to borrow bits of other people's ideas and maybe add something of my own, plus collaborations are just really fun and motivating. Drawing fanart for a show with live actors has also forced me to try challenging things like getting a good likeness in portraits and drawing more realistic figures.

I usually start with an idea for the setting and go from there, and it's what I rely on for the atmosphere and mood in the drawing, I think. I'd love to learn more about body language and facial expressions too, but it's on the 'to study' list.
