A ghost from Doyle's past comes back to haunt him. Charles Johnson wants Doyle to suffer, so he fakes Bodie's death and kidnaps him, leaving Doyle to feel the pain of loss and un- consummated love. When Bodie is finally rescued he is paralysed because of the drugs that Johnson fed him during his captivity. Luckily, the effects of the drugs do wear off and at last he and Doyle get together.
This is just the barest outline of the story, which is meaty. This story first appeared on the scene back in 1984, and it has weathered the years very well. [1]
