Arrant Nonsense is a series of Doctor Who convention skits by Offstage Theatre Group.

Contents

Highlights of the show included The Master's comedy song (the lyrics to which are far too filthy to repeat here); a Dalek's attempt to buy a most unusual gift at a Superstore; a version of the classic 1970's Dr Who story Inferno, which was performed by two actors in under five minutes; and a brilliant portrayal of the Fourth Doctor by Barnaby Jones, which more than compensated for the non-appearance of Tom Baker, and which will surely have Dead Ringers impressionist Jon Culshaw very worried indeed!

Cast

There were excellent performances from all the cast, including: Bob Roberts as the Brigadier, a regenerating Doctor, a Careers Advisor, and a man on a park bench who has something highly unusual in his carrier bag; Emma Vogwell as a stressed-out shop assistant, and the Thirteenth Doctor (!); Sophie Jones as The Storyteller from Inferno In Five Minutes, and the customer who is disappointed not to be able to buy a Gallifreyan Super-Weapon; Lisa Hamner-O'Neill as a very cross Romana (in a revealing dress!), and a concerned companion to a regenerating Doctor; Kim Jones as Olivia the Actress, who (alongside Barnaby as Lawrence) tried to teach the audience how to act "Realistically" in Dr Who, and as St. Petra, an Angel at the gates of Heaven; Timothy Baldwin, as a Sgt Benton struggling to keep a straight face, the bravado performance of the Actor struggling with props and costume changes as he attempts to perform Inferno, and as the Master, who always manages to say the wrong thing at the wrong time; and, of course, Barnaby Jones, as The Fourth Doctor, the man on the bench with Bob Roberts, and as Lawrence The Actor obsessed with "Realism". The guest appearances from Gareth T Dalek (operated by Dale W) was another highlight, and a real crowd-pleaser -- it seems that the Daleks are as popular now as they ever were!
