Anne Lister is a historical figure known for her diaries documenting, among other things, her lesbian relationships. She is known within fandom primarily through the TV series Gentleman Jack, in which she is portrayed by the actress Suranne Jones, and the relationship she had with Ann Walker. Another series prior to this, 2010's The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister, with Lister played by Maxine Peake, was much less popular in fandom, with significantly fewer fanworks on Ao3.[1]
