Among Friends was originally titled The Friends of Tom Baker for the first three issues.

It was available to members of the The Friends of Tom Baker fan club.

AMONG FRIENDS is an attractive publication: 12 pages liberally laced with photos and emphasising news of Tom's current work and reviews of past performances. Vol. 1, no. 4 also sported a very fine drawing of Tom as Sir Guy In the so-called ZANY ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, a filksong, and 2 marvelously enchanting pages from a transcript of Tom's Q&A sessions at Panopticon West 1984 In St. Louis. Vol. 2, no. 1 also has play dates for Tom's late 1984 appearances in SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER with Britain's National Theatre, including photos of Tom with very short hair and another in his costume complete with powdered wig. This issue also has a review of the newest DR. WHO documentary, and some interesting comments about Tom by a professional interviewer. AMONG FRIENDS is almost a must for all Tom Baker addicts, and is highly readable to almost anyone with a passing interest in him. Highly recommended. [1]
