Alt.tv.sliders was a Usenet group focused on the tv show Sliders, a science fiction show about canonical alternate universes. In the early 90s, email was uncommon and forums and mailing lists were rare - Usenet groups were one of the few ways for fans to connect with each other and share news about their fandoms.
