alt.fan.harry-potter (AFHP) is a Usenet group created in 1999 for "anything relating to the Harry Potter books, movies, or merchandise, or to J. K. Rowling."[2] This excluded fanworks, which were posted at alt.fan.harry-potter.creative.
AFHP and Yahoo! Groups' Harry Potter for GrownUps were two of the primary venues for discussion, analysis, and fan theories about the Harry Potter series in the early days of the fandom.
In 2004 and 2005, the newsgroup was listed on Tom Felton's official site as one of his favorite websites.[3]
