I think I really liked this one. It is a historical AU in which Blair is a Jew from Alexandria who wanders throughout Greece tutoring and Jim is a wounded Roman soldier. Their paths meet when Blair arrives on the island that Jim is in charge of asking for work. However, at some point, Blair is accused of betraying Rome and Jim has to choose between the law of the land and his love for Blair (and if Sophie is reading this, she knows how much I get off on that kink and have always wanted to write an LOTR fic with that theme, hee!). My only complaint is that there was occasionally too many modernisms in their dialogue. But the ancient stuff seemed to be well researched as far as my not-too-discerning eye could tell...

Four years after the Third Punic War, wounded Roman war hero Geminius Virius Eleusis finds his dull life of exile shaken by the arrival of an itinerant Greek labourer.

Why it's worth checking out: Well, for someone who said she didn't like AUs all that much, here I am reccing another one! But, truly, what's not to like...Jim as a Roman, Blair as a Greek scholar, angst, togas, misunderstandings, baths, heartbreak...and honey.
