AggieCon is the oldest student run convention in the USA, organized by Cepheid Variable, a student group "devoted to the support and promotion of all things science fiction, fantasy, horror, science, and technology". First held in 1969 under the name "Science Fiction Week," AggieCon has successfully run 53 times. All of the convention history is archived in the Texas A&M University Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, and the current faculty advisor for Cepheid Variable is the Cushing Science Fiction and Fantasy Curator. The Cepheid Wiki, Cepheidopedia, contains much information about the organization and convention, but has not been updated since 2023. Cepheid Variable's website is currently under construction.

While AggieCon generally occurs yearly in the spring, the convention was not held during 2018 or 2020.

Science Fiction Week (1969)

The first AggieCon was entitled Science Fiction week, but is now retroactively considered AggieCon 1.

Cepheid Comics and Trade Convention (1970)

The second AggieCon was entitled Cepheid Comics and Trade Convention, but is now retroactively considered AggieCon 2.

AggieCon 49 (2018)

Due to the costs associated with running a convention, Cepheid Variable was unable to host AggieCon 49. For reasons currently unknown, the non-existent event still holds the title AggieCon 49.

AggieCon: Hall of Gaming (2020)

The 2020 AggieCon was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and nationwide shutdown.

AggieCon 54 (2024)

AggieCon 54 is set to occur February 1-2, 2025.
