About

Afternoon Tea is a tradition started in 1840 by one of Queen Victoria's very own ladies-in-waiting. It soon blossomed into a nationwide event and a reason to sit down with loved ones and enjoy tea, cake, and each other's company.

In this zine, the characters of The Great Ace Attorney will be doing exactly that. Whether it's Susato introducing Iris to Japanese teas, or Soseki debating literature over cake, this project aims to highlight the characters' bonds and the decadent afternoon tea's of the victorian era.

An interest check for the zine was first posted on May 25, 2022, on social media. The project would be split between profit and charity and contain primarily gen content. Early in the project, the organizers stated that they would not accept contributors who were "pro-ship", which was specified as anyone who condoned content that the team deemed problematic (both fictional and non-fictional instances of pedophilia, incest, rape, and sexual assault).

Applications for moderators were opened from May 30, 2022, and closed on June 6, 2022, due to favorable turnout. Interest checks were closed on June 25, 2022. In a interest check results post, the organizers reported a total of 171 responses.

Contributor applications opened on June 30, 2022, and were scheduled to end on July 30, 2022. The deadline was extended to August 10, 2022. On August 14, 2022, the project was announced to be fully for charity. Application results were sent out on August 15, 2022, with over 100 applications reported to have been submitted.

Preorders opened on February 25, 2023, with the following pricing tiers:

• Early Grey Bundle ($15 USD) - Zine PDF, Emote Set
• Tea Cakes Bundle ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Zine PDF, Emotes Set
• Cream Tea Bundle ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Zine PDF, Emotes Set, Prints, Die-Cut Stickers, Sticker Sheet, Stretch Goals
• Tea Party Bundle ($50 USD) - Physical Zine, Zine PDF, Emotes Set, Prints, Die-Cut Stickers, Sticker Sheet, Charms, Enamel Pin Stretch Goals

Stretch goals included a coaster at 50 orders, washi tape at 75 orders, and a hard cover upgrade at 125 orders. A limited bonus of a sketch book was offered to the first 25 full bundle orders for $15 USD. A share campaign and giveaway for a full bundle was hosted from March 24, 2023, to April 1, 2023. The winner of this giveaway was Twitter user MumiyoV. Preorders closed on April 7, 2023.

By September 8, 2023, when all physical merchandise had been consolidated and ready to be packaged for shipping. Customers were notified by email to finalize addresses by August 13, 2023. Digital bundles were sent out on October 15, 2023.

Leftover sales ran from January 12 to February 12, 2024. On March 3, 2024, the project's organizers posted the receipt of $1281 USD donated to Action Against Hunger and declared the project complete.
