Accidental is a Star Trek: TNG Picard/Q story by Shalott.
Some P/Q fanfiction explores Q's true nature and how it differs from the human experience in the context of a trusting relationship with Picard. In Accidental by Shalott (2003), Q manifests his true form during an intimate moment.
A fan wrote: "Why it's not a good idea to surprise omnipotent beings." [1]
Reactions and Reviews
Despite the fact that Q considers himself to be a highly evolved being, Picard still manages to surprise him. Of course, surprising a self-proclaimed omnipotent being might have some unintended consequences… This is a very short snippet, but it’s hands down my absolute favorite Picard/Q fic. Funny, romantic, surprising and spot-on in characterization, it’s really worth reading. [2]
The adaptable Shalott captures Q's voice beautifully in this snippet[3]
picard startles q considerably. just a short little ficlet. nicely in-character, which those heaps of angst so many authors like to indulge in just break all to pieces. [4]
