Summary

"Just as Kirk works up the nerve to tell Spock of his feelings for him, he is injured and faces the possibility of never walking again, causing him to reject Spock's offer to stay with him."

Reactions and Reviews

This story reminded me a lot of those early classics where Kirk and Spock would face some sort of physical trauma that would affect their relationship, and in the process we would learn more about them. We're shown Kirk's fear of his love/self-sacrifice/rejection of Spock. Similarly, the Vulcan's abiding love is shown in the face of Kirk's denial of him throughout the story, as well. While it was a familiar theme and predictable in some respects, the feelings and emotions expressed still rang true. A good story that made me feel for the characters.
