A Separate Search for Peace is a Star Trek: TOS story by Carmen Dexter.
It was published in the print zine Berengaria #5.
Reactions and Reviews
Sarek/Amanda romance bringing in the premise that T-negative blood is a "throwback" trait and therefore despised on Vulcan and, more interestingly and plausibly, that it would result in the death of a Vulcan bondmate and child because of the blood reactions. Includes the Spock/Sarek estrangement scene.[1]
'A Separate Search for Peace' gives us a good story of why-Sarek-married-Amanda. However, there were two major flaws. It is Ms. Dexter's premise that Vulcans evolved with only one blood type and two Rh factors. If any female married s T-Negative male, she and her fetus will die. If you can get beyond this point, the rest of the story is highly enjoyable. However, the artwork makes every face look like Popeye the Sailor.[2]
"A Separate Search for Peace" was very interesting. I liked the idea about Sarek's blood type being a small problem in the long run. I liked the way Amanda and her father were portrayed. I think Sarek was a tiny bit mellow but I liked the way he was, too.[3]
