Summary

"After their meld while being held by the Melkots, Kirk is unable to forget the feelings it evoked."

Reactions and Reviews

Kirk is disturbed with Spock because of the mind-melding during the incident with the Melkotian. This is a terrific premise for a story as he thinks he can never have sex with anyone because it would pale against the intimacy of the mind-meld.

What a lovely moment when Kirk tells Spock that he knows Spock hasn't lost respect for him after the mind-meld because " I'd see it in your eyes/" What a perfect thing for Kirk to say.

There are so many fine moments in this story. One lovely moment is when Kirk asks:" 'Spock, what's it like to meld just for pleasure?" And when Spock describes the perfect qualities in a mate for Kirk, he describes himself. Really neat.

I got very caught up in the conversation and I liked Kirk's forthrightness. I liked the openness and the emotions. Kirk talks about his past and sexuality and a cute bit about how he wants to hug Spock, who asks: "'And do you wish to hug me now?" So they do.

Maybe I'm not so jaded as I thought I was. I was really taken by all the innocent romance. They have dinner together and then make love. I thoroughly enjoyed their preparations as they get dressed and meet for their date in Spock's quarters.

Really nice love-making filled with lots of neat stuff like "one of the most expensive lubricants on the market"— "Antarean Ecstasy" which is "renowned for its unique pleasure-enhancing qualities as well as a delicious taste and scent." Hmmm. I nominate that for "Best Lubricant".

I love that they "enjoyed it together" before they applied it. So many times during a sex scene, a writer will have them banter or make jokes and almost always it's inappropriate or worse, jarring. But I laughed out loud when they were so excited that Spock couldn't penetrate Kirk and Kirk says: "A successful docking maneuver is what's called for here. You steer and I'll navigate!"

I just loved all the unabashed romance—"My Jim, my captain, keeper of my heart, know that I love you with every fiber of my being. Never doubt it."

Totally gorgeous. [1]
