Reactions and Reviews

Jim and Blair wake up in each other's bodies. Blair takes it rather well, especially once he gets Jim's senses. Jim, on the other hand, does not take it well at *all* (shocker!) It takes skill to write a cracky premise in a way that isn't remotely crack-like, and Jane Davitt makes it look easy. She takes full advantage of canonical mysticism to present possible, almost plausible reasons for the body swap, and the end result is a surprisingly believable story. A story that is, ironically, less about the body swap itself and more about the characters learning about themselves and what they really care about. It's a fascinating character study mixed in with a significant chunk of angst (and, it must be said, Jim being a bit of an ass, though Blair isn't perfect either) and just enough hurt/comfort and weird mystical shit to keep things lively. One of the most serious, satisfying takes on the bodyswap premise I've ever read.[1]
