Reactions and Reviews
1992
This story postulates that McCoy is left behind in the Mirror Universe and that he loves Spock in 'our' universe. It is an interesting idea, well presented, but I couldn't buy it. [1]
1996
The standout story, so far, is A Man of Integrity, a Jane Carnall story in NOME 12. I've been grumping about this zine for years (without having read it) because the editors chose to put everything in a godawful display font. The price and the names Lois Welling and Jane Carnall in the ToC finally broke down my resistance. The Jane Carnall story is set in an a/u -- McCoy is left behind in the Mirror universe instead of going back with the others. The story is uncompromisingly grim, but not depressing -- don't ask me how she does that. The ending is entirely satisfactory; had she ended it any other way I would have considered it a copout. And I'm tempted to retype the damn story so I can have a readable copy. [2]
