Reactions and Reviews
The standout story, so far, is A Man of Integrity, a Jane Carnall story in NOME 12. I've been grumping about this zine for years (without having read it) because the editors chose to put everything in a godawful display font. The price and the names Lois Welling and Jane Carnall in the ToC finally broke down my resistance. The Jane Carnall story is set in an a/u -- McCoy is left behind in the Mirror universe instead of going back with the others. The story is uncompromisingly grim, but not depressing -- don't ask me how she does that. The ending is entirely satisfactory; had she ended it any other way I would have considered it a copout. And I'm tempted to retype the damn story so I can have a readable copy. [1]
