A Dare's a Dare is a Fraser/Kowalski story by Speranza.
"Livia wanted a Ms. Fraser story—so I mean! hey! okay! and awwwright! I ended up throwing practically every stupid kink I have into this story—so it's basically one big, overnight bag stuffed with favorite things. God bless and keep Kat Allison for her insight and support; mondo thanks also to Anna, Mia, Gear, and resonant for betaing above and beyond the call of duty. Hope this is what you wanted, Liv!"
Reactions and Reviews
Ray finds a dress in Fraser's closet and dares him to wear it. Fraser counters by daring Ray to take him out for dinner in it. Enjoyable fun.
It's a kink, and one she wrote well: Fraser, in a dress, and a bemused Ray who loves it. Hot! Read it.
I couldn't help myself. I'm in love with Speranza. I don't think if I tried I could find a fic that hits all my kinks like this one. And of course, Speranza wrote it. This is hotter than hot. It's hotter than that!! I honestly don't know what else I could say about this fic other than it will make you drool. I promise.
Another on the Speranza hit parade. Don’t worry, there will be more. This is a really well-written excuse to get Fraser back in drag, and a whole lot more. Ray kindly picks up Fraser’s dry cleaning, and in putting in his closet, discovers a dress. So, he dares Fraser to dress in drag, and Fraser agrees if Ray will take him out to dinner in return. Ray does, and much debauchery ensues. It’s pretty much worth it for the reminder of how freaking hot Fraser looked in the serge and makeup and earrings in “Some Like It Red.” Come for that, stay for the really well-written exploration of Ray and Fraser’s feelings for each other behind the pretense of being just another straight couple going out on a date. And all hail Speranza.
Best FF That Proves That the Phrase "Double Dog Dare" Never Really Loses Its Potency with Certain Kinds of Men. And, When You Think About It, Doesn't That Explain a Lot About the State of the World Today? A Dare's a Dare, by Speranza, aka cesperanza. Due South, Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski.Cross-dressing is inevitable in this fandom, since it's canonical. Yes, for reasons probably best kept dark, the screenwriters decided that they really, really wanted to see Paul Gross in drag. On national television. And they got their way. In the process, incidentally, they discovered a concept that has the status of Archetypal Plot Device in comics fandom and canon: cross-dressing for justice. (Wouldn't the world be a better place if all canon authors took their cues from the D.C. Universe? Well, no, it'd be a totally insane place. But it'd sure have a lot of hypothetically straight men cross-dressing and hanging out in gay bars and necking and wearing purple Spandex bodysuits in public.) Fraser did his stint of noble transvestitism in the Real Ray Vecchio days, but when a man has worn a dress once in the interests of justice, well, what's to stop him from wearing it again on behalf of a friend? And don't say sanity, because Fraser's never had much of that. Plus, it'd be a total shame to let the dress just go to waste. Thank god Speranza didn't let that happen.
