50 Scenes was a LiveJournal prompt community that asked participants to write fifty original scenes based on fifty prompts. "Scenes" were defined as a short work consisting of a single scene, with the only length requirement being over one hundred words. There were 1,341 entries and 2,163 comments left in the community during its active years, and it was affiliated with a number of other theme communities.
Like many other theme communities, 50 Scenes required users to claim a pairing or threesome before starting. Crossovers and original fic were allowed, but RPF was not, and the community also didn't allow fics based on the works of Mari Adkins, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Robin Hobb, George R. R. Martin, or Anne Rice. The community profile linked to Croatoan Fanfic's essay, Where has Anne Rice fanfiction gone?, to explain why those authors were forbidden.
