Star Trek Movie Cast Poll was a series of at least two polls issued by a group of fans calling themselves Save the Star Trek Cast in the July 1974 issue of A Piece of the Action.
1974
One poll was posted in the July 1974 issue of A Piece of the Action. The results were printed in March 1975 in that newsletter's 24th issue.
The questions all revolved around the possibility of a Star Trek feature film and fans' preferences in the casting of that movie.
The final results of that poll, as compiled by Carole Brownell of STSTC are:
- Total number of responses: 531
- For Star Trek revival WITH the original cast, as long as they are willing: 484 (91.1%)
- For Star Trek revival WITH OR WITHOUT the original cast, original cast preferred: 36 (6.8%)
- For Star Trek revival with ONLY PARTICULAR members of the original cast retained: 7 (1.3%)
- For Star Trek revival with same CHARACTERS, different actors & actresses: 1 (0.2%)
- For Star Trek revival with a NEW cast: 3 (0.6%)
- Of those who responded to the questions on favorite characters, the results were: Spock: 125 (45.1%) Kirk: 71 (25.6%) McCoy: 22 (8.0%) Scotty: 19 (6.9%)
- Of those who responded to the questions on favorite actors & actresses, the results are: Nimoy: 103 (35.6%) Shatner: 92 (31.9%) Kelley: 29 (10.0%) Doohan: 23 (8.0%)
