The Promised Neverland (Japanese: 約束のネバーランド, Hepburn: Yakusoku no Nebārando) is a Japanese media franchise.

Canon Overview

The series centers on a young orphan named Emma and her close friends, Norman and Ray, as they discover that the orphanage they were raised in has a more sinister purpose, and attempt to escape from it and then from the individuals running it. The series mixes survival, horror, mystery, supernatural, and action elements.

The Promised Neverland was serialized in Shonen Jump from 2016-2020, and translated into English by Viz Media. The anime was produced by CloverWorks, and the English version released by Aniplex aired on Cartoon Network during its Toonami block. In 2020, a Japanese live-action movie was released, but it has yet to be brought overseas.[1]
