Created in 2006 as a European shadow convention for people who could not attend WriterCon, WriterconUK organises an annual Midimeet, a small meet-up for fandom writers, artists, vidders, betas and readers.
WriterconUK is a much smaller and more intimate convention than its parent, with a limited membership of 40 in 2010. The programme in previous years has included workshops, panels and talks on topics such as icon making, drabble writing, and fanon, as well as general socialising.
