Wooloowoo is a meme which was created in 2019 by the larger Pokémon Sword and Shield fandom. When Wooloo debuted in trailers for the game, many sapphic fans were quick to notice that its name sounded similar to the popular acronym WLW for larger sapphic fandom. Thus, "Wooloowoo," was born and has been loved ever since. Fanart for it was coloured to resemble various Pride flags and/or depicted in WLW relationships.
Much fanon was developed for the new Pokémon, some joking that "Wooloowoo" was the evolved form of Wooloo and was a lesbian or Pride-type Pokémon.[1][2]
I genuinely love how the wlw community saw Wooloo and we immediately claimed her as one of us[3]
