Woe is You I: Pine and Stew is a Jim/Blair story by Mallory Klohn.
The Author Speaks
"As with most of my stories, "Woe is You I: Pine and Stew" began with a block of dialogue, and I plunked down my stool next to that block of dialogue and milked it for everything it was worth.
I still don't understand why this story was even as popular as it was, but experience has shown me that I'm a freak: when people comment on lines in my stories, they like something I lost sleep over, and totally ignore whatever I thought was the most kick-ass line in the piece." [1]
Reactions and Reviews
A.k.a. Ethan Nelson, a name that should bring a nostalgic smile to the faces of X-Philes...Why you should read this: The inimitable Nelson-Klohn style, in which dialogue is snappy, guys are horny, and humor is like one of those clown horns going wheeee in your ear. But in a good way.
What might throw you off stride: Fast-and-loose dialogue and characterization, if you really want to poke a stick at it. Plus, what's up with "Woe is You I"--where's II? Damn it, that's cruel.[2]
Summary: This is an epilogue for "Prisoner X". The "stewing" part of the story, such as it is, takes place at the beginning, with Blair chewing Simon out for letting Jim go off by himself when he probably needed medical attention, or at least a change of clothing and lots of Band-Aids. I'll let you read for yourself the pining part, which is amazingly angst-free.What you can look forward to is a mild freak-out by a character who shall remain nameless, and the snappy, snarky patter that is Mallory's trademark.
Reccer's Notes: This was originally posted under the title "Woe is You I: Pine and Stew". It might not be as well known as her other two TS stories, but it's a lot of fun. I'm just sorry she didn't publish more. Enjoy.[4]
