Wilfred Mott, known as Wilf, is the grandfather of Tenth Doctor companion Donna Noble. He is portrayed by Bernard Cribbins, who previously played Tom Campbell in 'Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 AD' with Peter Cushing.
Canon
Wilf initially appeared as a one-off character, a newspaper seller in one scene of 'Voyage of the Damned.' He was brought back for Series 4 when Howard Attfield, the actor cast as Donna's father, passed away. Donna's mother Sylvia is Wilf's daughter.
Wilf became a companion of sorts himself during 'The End of Time,' recruiting fellow pensioners to find the Doctor and even taking a trip in the TARDIS. The two men cared for and respected each other deeply. The Tenth Doctor expressed to Wilf that he'd be "proud... if you were my dad," and accepted his salute at their very last meeting.
