Where in the World is Herlock Sholmes? was a charity zine dedicated to the character Herlock Sholmes (also known as Sherlock Holmes) from the The Great Ace Attorney duology.

About

Interest checks and applications for a formatting mod opened on December 10, 2021[1]. The gen and safe for work project would be centered around the travels of Herlock Sholmes. The project was decided to be for charity rather than for profit to offer cheaper prices to customers, accept more contributors, and avoid potential copyright claims often brought down on Ace Attorney fan projects[2].

Interest checks and mod applications closed on December 31, 2021[3]. Over 200 responses to the interest check were reported on January 3, 2022[4]. Contributor applications opened for page artists, merch artists, and writers from January 6, 2022, to February 6, 2022[5]. The deadline was extended later to February 13, 2022[6].

Preorders opened on July 15, 2022, with the following pricing tiers[7]:

  • Elementary Bundle ($15 USD) - Digital Zine, Emotes, Digital WIP Zine
  • Baker Street Bundle ($20 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Emotes, Stretch Goals (sticker sheet)
  • Stradivarius Bundle ($30 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Emotes, Enamel Pin, Diecut Sticker, Sticker Sheet, Prints, Stretch Goals
  • Great Detective Bundle ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Emotes, Acrylic Charm, Enamel Pin, Diecut Sticker, Sticker Sheet, Prints, Stretch Goals

For an additional $5 USD, fans could include the Randst Magazine, a digital PDF zine showing work-in-progress pieces by the contributors. Stretch goals included a notepad at 50 orders, an enamel pin at 75 orders, and sticker sheets of digital merch at 100 and 150 orders[8]. An early bird bonus of an additional sticker was included with all physical orders placed between July 15 and July 17, 2022[9]. A sharing campaign and giveaway for a full bundle was hosted from July 22, 2022, to August 6, 2022[10]. The giveaway winner was announced to be Twitter user sixclawsdragon on August 8, 2022[11]. Preorders closed as scheduled on August 31, 2022[12].

The zine organizers posted semi-regular updates of production progress after preorders closed[13]. Delays were announced on December 3, 2022, when organizers reported consistent printing issues with their manufacturer[14]. Preorder fulfillment began in April 5, 2023[15]. Digital zines were sent out on May 29, 2023[16].

Lefotver sales opened from May 20 to June 21, 2024, with additional bundles including stretch goals merchandise, the Iris Watson Bundle and the Windibank bundle[17]. All leftover orders were shipped out by June 30, 2024[18].

On July 24, 2024, the zine organizers announced a total of $2830.43 made from the project had been donated to Save the Children, and that the zine was officially declared complete[19].
