Ward is a supporting character in the Square Enix video game Final Fantasy VIII.
Canon
Where Laguna is the manic and spontaneous one, and Kiros is the calm, sensible one, Ward is the strong and silent one. Albeit not out of choice.
Ward's voice was taken from him when an Esthar soldier slit his neck during the war. He remained otherwise fine, however he had to compensate for his lack of voice by other communication methods, such as body language and signing.
Despite never talking, Ward's actions speak volumes. After all, it takes a lot of energy to keep Laguna under control.

Similarly to Kiros, Ward is almost always paired with either him or Laguna. Almost no other ships featuring Ward exist.
