Alex wakes up from her coma and Jim decides he wants to visit her. Blair does not take this well.This is totally guilty pleasure fic for me: Jim behaves like an ass, Blair decides to run away from home, men refuse to communicate in any helpful fashion, men forced to confront (and talk about!) their feelings, angst with hints of dry humor, and a happy ending (of course).
Heck, take out the guilty part of that last sentence. This story is a pleasure to read, full stop. If you like stories that deal with the fallout from the whole Alex incident, if you like stories where Jim and Blair actually hash out some of their issues, if like seeing the boys fix their personal problems and come out stronger in the end, then this is the fic for you.

After re-reading yet again ladyra's fabulous story Visiting Alex - which I have a tendency to rec here every few months and which I can almost quote verbatim by now - I have a question for you all.If you could take just one single fic with you when stranded on the ubiquitous desert island, what would it be?
I know, I know - it's pretty much impossible to narrow it down, given all the fabulous stuff out there. But try.
Which fic is the one you re-read over and over, and which turns your crank (for whatever reason) like no other? The one, single fic which, if there was no more fic ever, would be the one you just couldn't live without?

This story has everything a die-hard h/c addict like me needs. Blair pushed to the emotional edge, Jim dealing with his own insecurities in his inimitable way, miscommunication, angst a-plenty, emotional catharsis, physical comfort, and culminating in a satisfying and moving conclusion. Oh, and hot, hot make-up sex! I love Lady Ra's take on the guys in this. Their dialogue is spot on, and their characterisation in general rings very true to me. I highly recommend it :-) [5]
