VinXperience was a forum for multifandom Vin Diesel fanfiction and fanart[1]. In March 2018, it was announced that the fanfiction part of VinXperience would be moving to the Archive of Our Own as an Open Doors Project[2]

VinXperience[3] was an unofficial fansite that was established in 2000 under the name of Pitch Black World. Originally, this site was a Pitch Black-themed fansite, devoted to the movie, its director and leading man. Barely a half year later, in the summer of 2001, Pitch Black World shifted its focus from the movie Pitch Black and became the news-centered Vin Diesel fansite, [4] VinXperience, still at it's Hungarian domain vindiesel.hu. As Vin’s popularity and career escalated, the site itself underwent several changes and improvements, becoming a more general fansite, with images, fanfics, fan art and a busy message board [5]. After several changes in hosts, affiliates and urls, VX is now retired, the message board was shut down in December 2017, but the main site’s content is still available under vinxperience.wordpress.com[6].

Back in the days, VinXperience registered an average of 3,000 hits a month and the old site had well over 2.6 million visits by the end of 2009. The attached message board, re-launched in December, 2009, had more than 2500 registered members. Since October 2011, the Diesel Driven Image Gallery – or Vin Diesel Gallery[7], with thousands of Vin images, movie stills and article scans, was also part of VinXperience.

Over the years VX has received mentions in the mainstream press, such as in USA Today and various other online movie sites. Vin himself acknowledged the site in 2005 at the German premiere of The Pacifier in Munich, Germany.

After completing her degree in 2006, previous site owner Kriszta has passed the site management on to Janine to focus on both her real life and career. After Janine retired as well, the site then was managed till the final days by a team of administrators: Bitten, Northern Lights, Silsin and MAVDementia.

During the years, after MySpace and Facebook conquered the internet, the message board ceased it’s purpose and attraction for the members, getting more and more deserted, so that the admin team finally decided to discontinue it. To preserve the biggest part of the message board - the comprehensive collection of fan fiction, the VX admins decided to move it to Archive of Our Own as an Open Doors Project.
