Vaughn Bodē was a fantasy illustrator and cartoonist. He is best known for his underground comic, Cheech Wizard as well as a BNF. Before finding fame with his original works, he had illustrated several zines including Spockanalia, Niekas, and The Tolkien Journal. In 1969, he won the The Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist. He was also nominated for Best Professional Artist in 1969 and 1970.
Vaughn died in 1975 at the age of 33. His son, Mark has carried on his legacy. Bode's work has inspired many artists including graffiti artists and Ralph Bakshi's late 1970s animated films Wizards and The Lord of the Rings.
