UuultraC (ウウウルトラＣ) is a 2020 BL visual novel based on Shouwa era tokusatsu.
Canon
The story is set in 1970 in a version of Japan populated by kaiju and superheroes.
The visual novel is split up into three main storylines, one for each main couple.
Shoutarou Kagome and Akira Kozuka are boyfriends living together. Akira is a mangaka while Shoutarou is working multiple jobs to support them. Shoutarou wanted to be a tokusatsu hero actor when he was little, so starts applying for roles after being doused in the blood of a kaiju.
Shirou Choutsugai is a photographer, former child actor, and currently being strongarmed into being a private investigator. Through chance, he meets his childhood sweetheart, a non-binary man and kaiju known as Suzu Issiki. By a dose of bad luck, Shirou became a kaiju himself.
Juurou Sayashi is the lead actor in the TV show version of Sun Mask Icarus and the real-life Black Icarus. His past is tied up with Yomi Hibarino, a jack-of-all-trades that loves to see him play the hero.
Inspiration
Some obvious callbacks and inspiration from tokusatsu and superhero manga are prevalent throughout UuultraC.

Fandom
The majority of UuultraC fandom is Japanese currently, due to the English release only happening recently.
Appeal
At launch, UuultraC gained attention for being by the same team as Hashihime of the Old Book Town as well as for the art style.
