Mr Wemyss, having an appallingly ramified extended family, has spent a goodish amount of time in numerous places, including Mid Yell, Dallas, Turriff, Montrose, Elgin, Crosby, Repton, Romsley, Earls Barton, Staunton, Pylle, Westbury, Wilcot, Little Cheverell, Pennington, Mount Pleasant, and a rather nice urban bolthole not a million miles from Long Acre. In that context, it is worth noting that his mother was a classically trained contralto. He himself studied violin and composition, and sang basso at university and in various parish choirs. Fortunately, for all his æsthetic interests, he was never debagged and tossed into Mercury Pond, due to the protective colouration of tweeds and an interest in field sports.

Fandom interests and activities: Under the username wemyss, he is the maintainer of the LiveJournal community britpickery, and its indexed archive community britpicking. He has written a certain amount of often controversial or contrarian meta. He has also contributed to Britticus Totallus!, and several essays at Fiction Alley.

Mr Wemyss also maintains the LJ community verse_albion, for original verse in and original translations of verse into English.

Mr Wemyss’s fanfiction consists primarily of H/D slash, with some gen, most of which concentrates upon the post-War politics and government of the Potterverse. Much of his fanfiction has been described, fairly enough, as ‘one long Britpick’; he has himself noted that, at bottom, his fandom is, simply, England, with occasional forays into Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. He regularly chronicles the more richly comic doings of his neighbours (the lambs at the High Street solicitors, the butcher and the greengrocer, and that Rabelaisian figure the Baker’s Daughter) at his LiveJournal.

His fanfiction is available at his LiveJournal, wemyss, at his LiveJournal community of wemyssfic, and at Fiction Alley; some portions are available also at HPFandom. He has also created personal and civic heraldry, and mock OS maps, for the Potterverse, again at his wemyss LiveJournal.

He is as great an anorak as this profile suggests. Mr Wemyss is also, as it happens, like his profile, wholly fictional.
