Singin' One

The Singin' One is the sign off alias used by Randye Jones during her activities on the role-playing game, Stargame. This Star Trek-based fandom rpg drew an international cast of players and flourished during the 1990's.

The first character The Singin' One assumed was Cantia Akapella, a doctor fresh out of Starfleet Academy who was assigned to the USS Venture--a game set during the original Star Trek series. Cantia was born on a planet colonized by gifted humans who were spawns of Earth's Eugenics Wars. She had the touch-empathic ability to heal injuries, but only at risk of her own physique.

Some of the Singin' One's other Stargame characters were:

  • Capt. Calaan (Elasian), USS Apache
  • Lt. Commander Candance Bedru (Human), USS Defiant and Spacedock
  • Adm. Carrhae t'Llhweiir (Romulan), Spacedock
  • Ka'Leyht sutai-Meleth (Klingon), USS Scandanavia (See introductory story Lovers' Prelude)
  • Caag (Ferengi)

The Singin' One also created and served as gamemaster on two games, USS Kitty Hawk--set during the Star Trek: The Motion Picture era--and USS Xerxes--set during the decades before the Original Series during the FASA gaming system's first war with the Klingons. She was a member of the Stargame Council, an administrative group that managed Stargame's functions. As the Stargame Librarian, she maintained the shared information files on Star Trek canon, Stargame history, and FASA.
