Fannish History
My introduction to fandom was in 1996 when my parents bought a modem and I used my brand-spanking new email address to join the Queen Mailing Service mailing list. Though I still love Queen dearly, let's just say that it is the only fandom that I've ever actually walked away from, and leave it at that.
My first 'proper' fandom was Babylon 5 in the late 90's. I started off lurking in Finnish B5 fandom, and then after the show ended moved on to international forums like World of JMS and JumpNow. This was also the fandom that introduced me to fanfic, though I never actually published any myself (and thus the world was saved from the many adventures of Sheridan and Delenn's totally awesome granddaughter).
In the early 00's I found myself in The X-Files fandom. I'd been a fan of the show since I was 15, but my love was rekindled by the introduction of Doggett and Reyes. I published my first fic online in 2004 and then there was no looking back.
My most active period in fandom was between 2005-2010, when I was in the Buffyverse fandom. Even though the show had long ended when I entered the fandom, it was still the most active fandom I've participated, and I kinda miss that experience.
The next seven years I spent mostly hanging out in The Mentalist fandom. Yes, it' a real thing, we have a website and everything ;)
My latest fannish love is Doctor Who, although it's probably more accurate to say that I'm in the Peter Capaldi fandom than the DW fandom proper (though I've been watching the show since 2006).
In general you could say that I have done pretty much everything that one can do in a fandom from making icons to organising cons.
(although now that I wrote that, I realised that one thing that I haven't done is that I've never been in any way involved in making a zine) And now I've also been involved in a zine. Hurrah!
Current Favorites
Capaldi era Doctor Who is my baby now, but I am still active in The Mentalist, Babylon 5, The X-Files and Buffyverse fandoms. I also dabble in many smaller fandoms from time to time.
On Fanlore
There seems to be a hole in fanlore the size of my fannish experience, and I'm hoping to make it at least a little smaller. Alas, I have a horrible memory, so mostly I'm just creating stubs in the hope that someone else would come and fill the blanks :)
I'll be mostly working on the The X-Files and Babylon 5 categories, plus adding articles about fandom in Finland.
