Unicon was an annual science fiction convention held in Maryland from 1975 through 1989. The idea for the event came from the University of Maryland Science Fiction Club which met on the second floor of the Stamp Student Union building in the 1970s. The club began as open enrollment course on science fiction with Stephen Rynas, a university junior, as the instructor.
