This story is quite short, and the point it makes is an old one. Still, I like the way Texas Ranger lets Simon list - and thereby reveal as baseless - the prejudices against gays. There's a ton of background story tied to this that I'd love to read, and I cannot believe that Jim and Blair coming out to the Cascade Major Crimes unit would have no serious repercussions, but nonetheless this short story appeals to the idealist in me.[1]
