Summary
Ensign Wesley Crusher says his goodbyes to friends and mother aboard the Enterprise and transfers to the Heinlein, the ship that will take him to Earth and Starfleet Academy. But not only is the Heinlein suffering from damaging power fluctuations, nearly two thirds of the crew are recovering from Viderian flu. Wesley, originally just a passenger, is soon in charge of tracking down the problems and oversee repairs until the Chief Engineer is well enough for duty. But an accident kills one of the crewmen working in a nacelle... or was it negligence on the part of someone else? And that's just the beginning of the trip.
